A Split Character in Literature and Film
KAVKA, Jan
This bachelor's work investigates the concept of dichotomous characters in both literature and film adaptations. The focus lies on specific portrayals of character dichotomy within narratives, examining how the presence of such characters impacts the perception of the fictional world they inhabit. Additionally, the work delves into the broader issue of the distinctions between the language used in literature and film, exploring the scope and limitations of narrative translation between these two mediums. A central aspect of this exploration will be the function and split nature of characters within literary and cinematic narratives, demonstrating how these elements can significantly influence the interpretation of a given work.
(Non-)transferability of shares in business corporations
Coufal, Ondřej ; Eichlerová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Josková, Lucie (referee)
(Non-)transferability of shares in business corporations Abstract This diploma thesis deals with (non-)transferability of shares in unlimited partnership, limited partnership, limited-liability company and joint-stock company. A share represents participation of a shareholder in business corporation. Each form of business corporation has a different modification of share transferability in the Business Corporation Act. Transfer of share is either prohibited, limited or allowed without any limitation. The rules on transferability also differ as to whether shareholders may deviate from them or not. The differences are mainly due to the personal or capital nature of the business corporation. The aim of this work is to determine the reasons which led the legislature to current transferability of shares in business corporations and to assess whether this legislation an appropriate solution is. The diploma thesis is structured into five parts. The first part deals with the theoretical introduction and defines a share and business corporations. The second and third part of the diploma thesis provides a detailed analysis of the transferability of the share in business companies, including the explanatory uncertainties and discussions that the current legislation raises. Part of the second part is also the...
Subsized Specimens for Fracture Resistance Characterisation Including Transferability Issues
Dlouhý, Ivo ; Stratil, Luděk ; Šiška, Filip
The contribution is focused on characterization of methods enabling to apply small/subsized specimens for fracture resistance characterization. The applied methods are divided into transition region and upper shelf region. The approaches used in the upper shelf region represent at the same time methods applicable for ductile materials without transition. Relating to subsized samples two basic approaches are applicable: (i) miniaturized samples based on common standard ones and (ii) specific specimens/methods, e.g. small punch test etc. The results described in the paper belong to the first group. For interpretation of data generated under low constraint conditions toughness scaling models and master curve approached are commented. In ductile region, either the sample used generate valid toughness characteristics, or, if not, there is no way how to correct measured data except damage quantification through micromechanical models.
Transferability of Scandinavian model of welfare state based on macroeconomic analysis
Baštářová, Tereza ; Němcová, Ingeborg (advisor) ; Hnát, Pavel (referee)
This thesis deals with question of Scandinavian social model's transferability on Baltic countries and Iceland. The aim of the thesis is to establish whether and to what extent Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Iceland are ready to adopt the system. Three main methods are used in the thesis, namely: analysis of macroeconomic indicators and competitiveness indices, synthesis using the magic pentagon and comparison via coefficient of variation. The thesis comprises three main parts. The first one deals with theory and methodology. The second part applies information gained from databases of world organisations and follows their development. The last part then compares these figures.
Complex assessment of fracture properties of cast ferritic steel
Dlouhý, Ivo ; Chlup, Zdeněk ; Kozák, Vladislav ; Holzmann, Miloslav
Complex analysis of fracture behaviour for low carbon manganese steel intended for fabrication of large containers of spent nuclear fuel (SKODA) has been carried out. Two locations, surface layer and central part, of the thick-walled plate have been followed in order to evaluate the material fracture resistance of full-scale cask segment. Fracture toughness data were determined for two different loading rates. Two specimen geometries, standard ones and subsized Charpy type specimens have been applied for the investigation. For dynamic loading two calculation procedures of dynamic fracture toughness determination have been applied, the first one arising from quasistatic approach and the other based on concept of dynamic key curve method. The transferability of results received on the small pre-cracked Charpy specimens was analysed and applied with good results.
